Fish CHIC - 'Til I got that Thug Life Tatted on my Chest...

Good Morning and Happy Monday to you, Fish-Eaters! Mondays stink, especially when we run out of littlenecks, fluke and razor clams at the fish haus. The price of fluke is going up tomorrow (for the first time in a year and a half) so that is a fun little nugget of information I will have to explain to the chefs tomorrow...

The good news is: FASHION. Fashion is the word this morning. Check out my look: T-Shirt courtesy of Jack Killen and Sunglasses ala Warhol courtesy of my mom Sabrina.

What you are about to see is REAL. Yes I really got "Woods Hole" tattooed on my arm. Crazy? Perhaps. Mom-stoker? Not so much.

Fish Chic - Morning from Hell.

I was out last night perusing the downtown area as Fashion Night Out brought everyone and their sister out into the streets to party (photos to come this afternoon). I knew I should have gone to find my bike in the Lower East Side before I meandered home. I don't like relying on taxi drivers to get me where I need to go at 7:00am.

Being late to the fish haus on the friday before Fashion Weekend in NYC is not a cute look. Here I am waiting in front of Lucky Car service in chinatown already in tears at 8:15am. The driver who usually picks me up when it is raining got in an accident or got held up by an accident on the Manhattan Bridge. Fish Babes have rough mornings sometimes but life goes on. It's Friday!! Hooray!

Starting to realize Jose the driver just isn't going to make it. Tank top TJs wahhhhhhhhh!

Nearly in tears (ok I shed a few).
Bag from Shopsins Delicatessen in the Essex Market NYC. This place is a Lower East Side must. The owner is a mega awesome weirdo and he has over 200 plates to choose from on his menu, all of which will make you drool.

Fish Chic

Fish Babe Couture heats up as we head full throttle into NYC Fashion Week 2011.

Today I am donning a timeless classic: the Bass Sweatshirt. It's American, it's oversized and it's hideous: the perfect trifecta of cool.

Bass Sweatshirt, patriotism at it's finest:
I believe this gem once belonged to my mother's 6' 3" BF Charlie, but I am not 100 % sure of it's origins.
Jeans from the Gap
Hunter Boots, had them since college. Perfect for stepping in fish blood, etc.
Sometimes it gets hotter than hellfire in the Navy Yard. When I have fish to fry, layering is key. Under the beloved bass sweatshirt I am sporting a sporty Atlantic City T-shirt that I bought on the boardwalk last summer. Wawaweewa that was a night to remember. All I have left of it now is this T-shirt with a major spelling error emblazened across the front in splatter paint.

ATLANT ICCITY? Spelling error or hipster art? You decide.
Like I said, layers are a must. Check out this innovative way to wear the sweatshirt / t-shirt combo. Perfect for jetting in and out of the coolers.

Silver hoop earrings: T.J. Maxx (surprise, surprise!)

Fish Chic

Following the trend set by many fashionista bloggers of late, it seems high time that I post a photo of my daily outfits so that you can all swoon over how cool I look at the fish haus. Somedays I look worse than others, and I always look a little ragged. Looking too hot at the fish haus is risky business. I work with approximately 40 lads who encounter way more fish guts than women on a daily basis. I also spend a decent amount of time meandering in and out of a large cooler full of salty creatures that omit a fragrant "seaside" aroma into the air. In other words, this is not the appropriate place to bust out the Louboutin power heels. You will notice that many of my "pieces" come from T.J. Maxx in Falmouth, my favorite place to shop!

I call my style "Fish Chic":

Rose sweatshirt: "Chaser Collection" T.J. Maxx, Falmouth, MA.
Salmon colored painter pants: Smiths, Somewhere in P-town, embarrassingly enough I have had them since high school.
Navy peace sign scarf: Some dude on the street in SOHO, NYC.

Navy Boots: Palladium, available online or at SHOEMANIA! in Union Square, NYC.
I recommend shopping online for these boots because SHOEMANIA is a complete horror show.
