Last Wednesday morning we found a litter of five feral kittehs behind the Pierless warehouse. They were all nasty and scraggely hiding amongst the pallettes. Only about 3 weeks old and with no Mama Cat to care for them, I couldn't resist embarking upon the salvation of these kittehs.

Pioneer Kitteh REOW. |
I adopted the first little mongrel to venture into the clutches of one of the Pierless production guys. He is a marmelade cat and his name is Moby Dick, but we call him Dickie. Marmelade cats are almost always boy-cats. I was given this nugget of information by a local Navy Yard cat-lady cum sculpture artist named Suprina who feeds a whole COLONY, yes a colony of feral cats in the Navy Yard. She was involved in the search and rescue of Dickie's brothers and sisters the night after little Dickie was brought in from the cold harsh streets of Brooklyn.

Dickie being rescued. Go Dickie Go! |
Dickie is cute and healthy. He now eats solid food but still meows incessantly because he misses his bottle. He poops a LOT which is completely disgusting and he has peed on the floor and even in my bed a few times, also. The whole ordeal is pretty horrifying. He will probably live for another 19 years, so I have 19 more years of poop scooping etc. to look forward to, which is awesome. Since he is MY cat, I love him unconditionally. Look at him being cute! That is his only job.

How can I not love this flea-bag, even if he squeezes me dry between vet bills and kitty litter. Insane Cat-Lady Alert! |
